The Burden of Black Excellence

In this week’s episode, I talked with my former high school classmate Makeda about our shared experience of being one of the few black girls in the classroom. The conversation gets juicy as we talk microaggressions, healing via our black women friendships, and the downsides of black exceptionalism. Makeda is an amazing artist and if you’re interested in seeing her work be sure to check out her website. A special thanks to Makeda for sharing her story.

Thanks for listening!
